‘Shrek the Musical’ Arrives at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for Five Performances Only!

11.20.24

The all-new SHREK THE MUSICAL, presented by The Fifth Estate Entertainment/Round Room Live, arrives at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for one weekend only from November 22-24, 2024, at Segerstrom Hall. Audiences will experience a SHREK that feels both familiar and refreshingly reimagined, promising to let everyone “fall in love all ogre again.”

Tickets start at $44.07 and can be purchased online at scfta.org, at the box office located at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, or by calling (714) 556-2787.

This production reunites Tony Award-winning Kimberly Akimbo collaborators Jeanine Tesori (music) and David Lindsay-Abaire (book), who deliver a more intimate and engaging version of SHREK, celebrating the humanity in all of us and embracing our differences. With new original direction and choreography by Danny Mefford (Choreographer, Dear Evan Hansen), this iteration of SHREK THE MUSICAL returns to its roots, emphasizing themes of self-love and love for others.

David Lindsay-Abaire shares, “It’s been such a gift to get to revisit the show after all these years and rethink some of the choices and reimagine the piece as a whole. This all-new production is leaner and more focused. It’s joyful and funny and feels beautifully hand-crafted in a way that really brings out the things we first fell in love with – the heart and wonder and humor of the story.”

Jeanine Tesori adds, “We wanted to make a show that families could come to, to laugh and be moved. Something that would create a memory, because everybody has felt like an ogre now and then.”

Based on the hit DreamWorks animated film, SHREK THE MUSICAL is a hilarious fairy tale adventure filled with a vibrant cast of characters and a ‘shrek-tacular’ score that appeals to audiences young and young-at-heart!
